The Loss
The realisation of Development even in our little village of Puthupady.. Memories of the enthusiastic paddy workers sowing rice in those verdant fields and fertile green lands, us kids mucking about with them in the muddy fields, fishing along the streams, diving off spring board tree branches in the river as one of granny's trusted servants taught us to swim by throwing us in the monsoon bloated river..All that has been replaced with a certain grimness, land sharks have developed the paddy into villa and bungalows, while the paddy workers have gone on to earn mega bucks in the city working for the real êstate honchos. None of that simplicity and rustic charm left. It's all about the money buddy! Its only Money that makes the world go round. I still remember the barter times... The paddy workers came because they got.a year's worth free grain and food for their family at home and gran used to trade her rice and coconuts for meat and things. How the times they are a changing

The Year that went
Remembering Ammana and Suzy aunty.
Sosha's baptism. Esaak's big Grumpy bday party
The trips we made and friendships that we cemented along the way. The Munnar trip with family, we promise to do more.

The kicking off of the India Bike week. It's been 10 years in the making...

Highlights of Bali: Mara River Safari - dining in a glass cylinder surrounded by lions, swimming 10 feet from rhinos grazing and petting a white tiger cub. And the real deal - watching a Ramayana temple play in Uluwatu at the southern tip of Bali overlooking the Indian Ocean set on a 200ft cliff. Ubud will be our eternal favourite... spiritual energy laden, culture and art heavy; the best food in all of Bali at Munir Warang set on the edge of a river gorge split in 4 levels and the Dirty Duck with its spicy Balinese fare in the crispy fried duck; Seminyak - Ku de Ta with its fashionable, beautiful people and an incredible beach. Nusa Dua - Bumbu Bali with its cooking classes and contemporary-ethnic Balinese decor and the endless beach street shopping and eating at Kuta and Seminyak.

Easter Weekend Taj Holiday Village, Goa
Family desperate in need of a holiday? Off to Goa. This was different though, Esaak's first holiday to a resort, some anxiety and a lot of excitement.. about his food, will he like the beach or the pool etc. Finally we found the only thing in the world he's scared of - the pool! Sacred visits to Britto's and we were glad to see at least that much of Goa is still intact. Ever seen Goa with wine shops shuttered down? We did, thanks to the elections.

Trip to The Coffee Basin
4 days of Barbecues & Steaks, 4 wheel drives, the heritage temple, elephants and fishes at Shringeri temple.. a speed drive through some amazing roads, first hand experience of coffee & pepper plantations, the very best view from Yelumudalu.. photos are here, but the location is sworn to secrecy and good company.
